Rosie Challenge

We'll have a pizza party for any Laker who read all 20 Rosies before the end of the vote in April!

What is it?
The Eliot Rosewater Award or "Rosie" is an award given anually to a book voted on by high school students in Indiana. Every year a list of books is nominated by Indiana high school students, teachers, and media specialists. Voting is done by giving a nominated book 0-5 stars.

Who does it?
Teachers and media specialists can nominate a book, but only Indiana high students can vote. The only people eligible to vote are Indiana students in grades nine through twelve.

When is it?
Once a list of nominees is released, students may vote on it until May 1 of the award year. Ballots are tuned in to your school's designated sponsor (usually the media specialist) during the school year.

Where?
If you are in a high school in Indiana, talk to your school's media specialist about participating.

Why do it?
This is an award voted on by teens, for teens. Why not let your voice be heard?

How do I vote?.
During the school year, high school students in participating schools can read a nominated book and turn in a ballot. On the ballot, a student gives the book zero to five stars. That's it. No reports, no quizzes, no tests. Just check a box. The voting happens mid-April. Ask your library teacher for more details.
